What started as a tape baking and restoration project here at Beach Road Mastering back in the fall of 2018 turned into a monster of a new album!! Just finished mixing the brand new Helix record here this week. I was 7 years old when I first heard “Rock You” and played it to death! Who would have thought that 35 years later I’d be working with these legends!??! Mastered by the great Harry Hess of Harem Scarem fame, the album drops this summer!!
So much happening folks!! The Cat Box in Cambridge is NOW open and we’ve got tons of awesome sessions booking there all summer…hit me up to book yours now!
Just got back from NYC recording the brand new Face To Face live album that will be released on Fat Wreck Chords this summer! It was a 3 night Triple Crown set and track listing is yet to be determined. Couldn’t have done it without the help of Gotham Sound and the wonderful JoeCo rig they provided us with. Stoked to mix this one!!
Hey friends!! It’s been such an insanely busy year at Beach Road that we haven’t had time to put too many updates on here…HOWEVER, I’m suuuuuper stoked to announce we have a new studio opening up on Feb 1st, 2019!!
“The Cat Box” will cater to artists, clients, producers and bands on a budget! Located right off the 401 in the eastern part of the beautiful city of Cambridge, Ontario, the new space is located in the perfect vicinity to the cities of Hamilton, Guelph and Toronto (and of course the Tri-Cities of Kitchener/Waterloo Cambridge!) and will feature a number of classic pieces of gear for all your musical endeavours. Situated 5 minutes from Long & Mcquade, major hotels and all your favourite restaurants and shops, the new studio is sure to be a hit for those looking to work on short term as well as long term projects. Stay tuned for pics and more info while we ready the completion of the new studio in the coming weeks!
We’re booking now, so please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
(and PS…huge thanks to Jack Heine from Strymon Engineering for coming up with our stellar new name!!!)
The brand new Face To Face acoustic record, titled “Hold Fast” will be released July 27th, 2018!! I had the honor of Co-Producing and Mixing the record, but also got to throw in my share of percussion as well as a backup vocal on a song. An incredible project to be involved with, the record will be released by Fat Wreck Chords. Stoked!!
Back in May, Los Angeles rock/metal band The World Over flew up to Beach Road to work on a sweet new full length with me. No release date as of yet has been announced, but the album is phenooooomenal and I’m so proud of it!! The band was here back in 2016 to have me produce their Mountains EP, which has done incredibly well the past few years. I also mastered their Ventifact record last summer, which was acoustic versions of all the songs off Mountains. The band is currently on Warped Tour playing their hearts out! Check them out if you can!
Hey all!! Our June recording workshop was a MASSIVE success!! We had a staggering 11 students in our little country studio learning their little hearts out!! We have one more workshop booked in 2018 at Beach Road for Sept 1/2 – half the slots are already filled, so if you’re interested in attending please contact me now!!
Hey all!! I promise an actual update on new records and projects (although Instagram and FB are your best best for finding the latest up to date musical endeavours we’re working on here), but we DID manage to update the Discography to reflect some of the missing records from the past 2.5 years…! 😉 And, ALSO…we can now accept Bitcoin or Ether as forms of payment for making records!! Are you a nerd as well as a musician who’s been mining BTC or ETH for the past few years? Well, send ‘er on over and let’s rock already aye!?!
Radial Engineering is one of our favourite companies in the ENTIRE world. Made up of such incredibly dedicated human beings that truly love what they do, it really does show. I’m proud to be an artist with them and always excited with the new tools they come up with. Huge thanks for this great Blog Spot!
Big thanks to Pro Sound Network for this great article!
Our last recording workshops EVER will be held later this month, and we only have 2 spots left! April 22nd/23rd or April 29th/30th weekends. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to learn all the tricks on Producing, Engineering, Mixing and Mastering a song with Siegfried Meier.
Please check out http://www.siegfriedmeier.com/workshops for more info and to book today!
We’re super excited to announce our next 2 upcoming recording workshops here at Beach Road Studios!! April 22nd/23rd and April 29th/30th 2017 – two different weekends, your choice of what works best. As always, our workshops book up fast, so don’t wait until the last minute!
Been an insanely busy summer and fall here at the studio. We made some great records and singles with Anthems and Ashes, The Ashgrove, Horwood, KINK, A Ghost Named Joe, Howl Said The Wolves, Sadukii, Artificial Dissemination, Slouch, Cashed In Kings and Stuck Out Here – some that are still in the process of mixing!!! Met a really great band called The World Over in LA fronted by the granddaughter of legendary guitar builder Ernie Ball and we created an insane 5 song EP together that is now available everywhere, punk rock veterans Face To Face were in working on a new song with me for an upcoming tribute compilation, and I co-wrote a killer song with legendary rapper DMX featuring some beautiful vocals by the talented Morgan Lander of Kittie! Work continues on the new b.d. Gottfried album as the new Charrlonmane full length, along with a new Studio B room here at Beach Road to provide some awesome lower rates for clients when needing to do overdubs and vocals. A Scully 1″ 8 track machine graced the control room this fall as well and we’re busy rebuilding and wiring it in – this is pretty much the holy grail of analog recording, and each input not only features line inputs, but MIC PREAMPS as well by way of vintage UTC transformers!!! I’ll be back at NAMM this year and will be working on a new single with The World Over and KINK in LA, as well as a few top secret as-of-yet unannounced projects. Happy travels friends!!
It’s incredible…it’s now been a decade since we first poured the concrete foundation for our vibey, country getaway studio!! We’re stoked to announce Beach Road also now has its own Wikipedia page – check it out here!
Thanks to everyone for the wonderful years and music, on to the next decade!
We’ve had a busy spring here in L.A. and at Beach Road! Besides 2 incredible back to back recording workshops, preproduction and mixes/mastering at our space in Silverlake, Beach Road has been busy with a number of sessions the past month. The summer is packed with several amazing bands from all over North America – stoked for everyone to hear what we’re working on! \m/
Mini Beach Road is now rockin’ in LA!! We have a new space in sunny California that I’ll be working out of – writing, producing and mixing records! I’ll be dividing my time between the beautiful shores of Lake Huron at Beach Road and the new Silverlake Studios in LA. Our low Canadian dollar makes it very attractive for American labels and bands to head up north to make a record, and my aim is to connect with some amazing talent down here. Let’s make some music!! \m/ \m/
Attended the awesome Axes & Anchors cruise this past week! From Miami to Key West to The Bahamas and back, I got to meet and enjoy some legendary artists like Zakk Wylde, Tracii Guns, Gilby Clarke, Yngwie Malmsteen, Marty Friedman, Joe Stump, Thousand Foot Krutch, Breaking Benjamin, Bumblefoot, Alex Skolnick, Rudy Sarzo, Kathy Rhoads and so many more!!
I’m stoked to announce that I’ll be hanging out in The City of the Angels for the unforeseeable future! I’ll be producing, engineering and mixing for a number of clients in both the L.A. area as well as back home at Beach Road on the beautiful shores of Lake Huron. Lots of exciting things to come so stay tuned!
This is a project that’s been in the works for quite some time now…and I’m stoked to announce it now! I’m releasing a number of elite drum sample libraries and MIDI groove packs with a featured set of killer drummers in some of the most historic and legendary recording studios of the world. It’s going be a history lesson as much as anything else! From the outboard gear, consoles and mics used at each legendary studio, to the people each individual drummer has worked with, this is gonna be a hit with anyone that loves history and technology. I’ll have all the details posted on my website www.siegfriedmeier.com when the time is right. For now we’re hard at work on creating something really cool!!
NAMM 2016 was incredible!! So many great hangs, gear and fun! We acquired several new endorsements with Vintech Audio, Beyerdynamic, Emotiva Audio and several more to be announced soon, and can’t wait to use some of their gear on upcoming records. And now, to sleep off the leg and foot pain of walking for 4 days straight…until next year!!
It’s been a crazy summer of 2015 so far!! Finished UK’s Not Tonight and The Headaches album, the brand new Tallan M.D. record, an awesome new single with Sound Glyphics, a killer EP with Toronto’s Russian Roulette (mastered by the great Troy Glessner), a great new track with a new band called PIN and an awesome EP with a new punk rock band called 30 Helens that will be going to vinyl in the fall. We finished an EP with a new band called Static Prevails that’s just headed to mix now, and the new Painted Faces full length is nearly done. Mastered some fantastic albums including a great EP for my good friend Julian and his new project No Good Crooks, and another great single for L.A.’s The World Over that’s been doing really well with nearly 15000 views! The well known psychic medium Kelly L. Elson was in with me to produce a 2 disc album, and we did a very cool vinyl transfer project for a friend utilizing a lacquer master disc from 1952, and recording vocals along with the original recording. b.d. Gottfried’s new record Motion Fever is out and doing really well on radio in Europe, and we’ve already started work on a new album along with remixing the old catalogue. Managed to squeeze in a number of electronics projects including building a pair of our BR500 mic preamps for a client, building a few new 500 series mic preamps and a Studer 169 500 series eq (with 5 more on the way, 2 for the mastering room!) and wiring up a ton of snakes for misc gear we have sitting here at the studio. A vintage Fostex R8, a Roberts 770x, a 2nd Tascam TSR8 and MSR24 and an early 1960’s AGS stereo tube tape machine are now at the studio making sweet music again, a vintage mid 90’s Mesa Dual rec is now available here, along with a number of other misc vintage and “garbage” pieces of outboard gear. A number of old amps have been repaired and are now here for use – a Trace Elliot and a vintage 70’s Garnet are the most exciting! Kittie was back to film the studio portions of their new documentary, and we even did a “classic tracks” type segment going over the last 2 records multitracks that I produced with them. We have new records with the talented Serena Rutledge, Anthem For Today, Jailer’s Daughter and Punishment slated to start in the next few weeks, and another Beach Road Studio Workshop booked for the end of August!! Sleep…it’s for the weak!! Until next time!
We have returned from L.A. with the brand new b.d. Gottfried album! Mastered by Howie Weinberg, who’s done records such as Nirvana’s Nevermind and In Utero, U2‘s Pop, Rancid’s …And Out Come The Wolves, Def Leppard’s Hysteria, Beastie Boys License To Ill, Butch Walker’s Ghosts and many, many other seminal albums, the new 11 song record titled Motion Fever will be released on CD, iTunes and double vinyl by May 2015. We worked over 14 months making this record, and we’re all very proud of it!
The new b.d. Gottfried album is complete! After a fantastic final listening session today, the album is done and ready for the masterful hands and ears of mastering legend Howie Weinberg! We’ll be heading to LA in the next short while to get this monster of an album finalized – look for the double vinyl release early summer 2015!
In a lo-fi late 60’s/70’s vibey gear mood lately…acquired a mid 70’s Yamaha PM700 12 channel console that is in excellent shape and sounds super dirty and cool. Also found a number of weird old green Altec pieces that now make up a crazy cool mono 16 input rack console, complete with master graphic eq and 50 watt power amp (??) – super stoked to use these on some new productions. Bryce at Warm Audio also sent over his new WA12-500 series modules that is an absolutely unbelievable unit for the price they’re selling at – everyone needs at least 4 of these in their racks, they are just awesome!!
Even with a busy schedule, it’s important to find time for personal creativity. Drummer extraordinaire Lennie Haggerty and I have started a new 2 piece rock ‘n roll project called Stranded In Nostalgia. Last night we recorded the beds for 2 brand new songs in a makeshift studio using an Apollo Twin, Alesis AI-3 converter, a Radial lunchbox full of bad ass mic preamps (including the BR500!!) and 5 carefully placed microphones on the drums. Definitely never about gear, always about the songs and performance!
Hey everyone! We began work on a new record by The Hunt Club this past weekend. Jon, Burke and Lee from sectorseven have started a new acoustic punk/folk project that is pretty damn awesome. Over the course of 2 solid days, we laid down the drum and acoustic guitar beds here at Beach Road that will form the foundation of this incredible 12 song full length due out later this year!!
I made up a discography page a while back on Bandcamp that has a number of tracks I’ve had the fortune of working on over the years. It’s a great way to hear all the cool stuff we’ve done at Beach Road and beyond over the last 20 years – check it out here!
Hey everyone!! Seems as though with the regular daily use of social media, I update less and less on this page…nonetheless, it’s been an insanely busy year!! Starting the year off with the new album by B.D Gottfried (which is still in the works BTW, mixing late January 2015!), a new album with Zealots Desire out soon, a record with Painted Dogs, another record with Mountain Of Wolves, EP’s by Halfway To Barstow, Serena Rutledge (played bass and drums on the latest one!), I Built a Flying Machine, Painted Faces, a trip to Vancouver to work on 2 new songs with The Disenders, a couple of Curtis shows, a new full length with The Affair (of which I played some guitar on, and even got to rock out the CD release show with!), the founding of our new Live at Beach Road series (now on Episode 4 and thus far featuring Breaching Vista, The Feels, Painted Faces and Mr. Tasty), a record with Ryan Mill’s new band Pile High (of which I played drums, bass and some guitar), mixing the first original track by Youtube A cappella rockstar Mike Tompkins called Sorry Not Sorry, 3 new songs with Jamie Dean’s amazing new project The Hoot & Yell, a single with Howl Said The Wolves, The Ending To This Story, an EP with Chemical Burn, a new Gord Prior single, tracking some guitar for the legendary guitarist Emil Werstler (of Chimera fame) for his new solo project, a 6 song EP with The Containment Unit (out very, very soon), produced a single with Anthem For Today & another mix for their new Christmas song, another heavy hitter by The Wedding Party (and mixed by Joey Sturgis), a couple of awesome singles for new band Temple In The Sea, prepro and drums on the new Charrlonmane record, a new 4 song EP by Emerald Seas, the new Artificial Dissemination album (mastered by Noah Mintz), starting a new EP with the venerable Blu Bones as well as a new album by Thrawsunblat, some writing with the lovely Tara Mcleod (of Kittie), an amazing live off the floor album with Easy Does It, EP’s by Punishment and Stereo Sunrise, an awesome full length by Elastic, started 2 mixes off the new record by UK band Not Tonight and The Headaches, completing the brand new Mr. Tasty record, to doing some private studio work and training for the amazing David Wilcox, a plethora of mastering jobs, starting a brand new songwriting project with my best dude Lennie Haggerty called Stranded In Nostalgia and capping the year off with a new single by Kittie for the upcoming David Bowie tribute album out on Cleopatra Records and designing our first 500 series Microphone Preamp, the BR500…wheeeeewww!!! Thankful for all of our loyal clients and for the awesome times we have together in the studio – you all are what makes this amazing journey possible, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. A toast to 2015 and continued success for all!!!!
Been a super busy fall this year! Worked on EP’s with Painted Faces, Slouch, Gag Order and The Wedding Party, finished the Mr. Tasty full length record and continued work on the new Ryan Mills record that I had the honour of playing drums and bass on. Tons of mastering work has been coming through as well, and some really great records being done that I’m fortunate to be working on. We’re teaching the first series of our Studio Workshops in early December, and then a few more EP’s are being completed before we start on the brand new Zealots Desire full length in January. Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and much love to all of your families!!
Live Off The Floor production deals are on again this summer at Beach Road, and they’re BETTER than ever! We’re doing 3 songs for $299 – that’s UNDER $100 a song! This offer is only available for a limited time, so don’t wait! We’ll be booking on a first come first served basis!!
We are SUPER stoked to announce our big win for Metal Record of the Year at the 2013 JUNO Awards!!
So we’ve spent a few years collecting the most popular machines and formats of the past few decades. We now offer full analog/digital transfer and remixing/remastering services. You got tracks on 2″ 24 track, 1/2″ 8 track, ADAT, DA-88, DAT, 1/4″ 2 track etc? Not only is it best to transfer before the media itself completely breaks down and you lose everything, take a trip down memory lane and have the tracks remixed or new elements tracked. You never know what gem of a song exists on your old tapes – it could be the next big hit!!
Super stoked to announce that the latest Woods Of Ypres record I Produced and Engineered in the summer of 2011 was nominated for a Juno in the Best Metal Record Of The Year category! Please click here to see all the nominees! Wherever David is, I’m sure he’d be super proud. R.I.P. David Gold.
Ok folks! Live Off The Floor production deals on again for January & February 2013 at Beach Road Studios! $500 bones gets you 3 songs off the floor, light overdubs + vocals, a night’s stay at the Beach Road Band House and a superb breakfast! We are SUPER stoked to announce 2 new partnerships with Beach Road Studios and Siegfried Meier! Now officially endorsed by Presonus Audio Electronics and Vancouver’s own Radial Engineering, we’re super thrilled to be a part of those families and excited to be using more of their products in the studio and on the road! Please check out Presonus and Radial for more info!
Hey dudes and dudettes! Welcome to the new Siegfried Meier WordPress site! We’ll also be showing off a brand new Beach Road Studios site in the next short while, so stick around! 😀
The new SFS record is complete – check out the first single here!! Also, it’s been a bit quiet on this site for the past little while as Social Networking has taken hold, but a brand new WordPress site will be coming soon and will be much more active than this site has been.
We’re doing our thing again this summer. From June – August 2012, $500 gets you 3 songs tracked and produced live off the floor, any overdubs you can get in and vocals tracked separately, 1 nights stay at the Beach Road Band House and a breakfast you can write home about. Check out this link for some samples of live off the floor projects I’ve produced at Beach Road over the past 6 years. Contact me for booking info now!
It’s been a busy winter here at Beach Road Studios! After finishing the Stacey Jamieson and WUUD mixes, I engineered a record for a cool new band called Battle Mountain Band, as well as tracked drums with Neverending White Lights drummer Dean McKey on David Usselman’s new record. I also produced the new EP for Kitchener based band Remembering Apollo, and The Wedding Party was back to track a new crushing single. Coupled with some cool custom gear builds, several cool mastering jobs including a new acoustic song by The Reason and some shows/recording with my old band Curtis, it’s been quite the winter!! Lots of cool new things on the horizon that will be announced soon. For more info or booking times, please contactme now!
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND, the Beach Road demo deal returns this fall! $500 gets you a live off the floor recording of up to 3 songs at Beach Road Studios, Produced, Engineered and Mixed by Siegfried Meier. And nothing’s changed – your band STILL has to be able to play together…isn’t that a strange concept in this modern world of music?? 🙂 Click here to check out a small sample of 5 different songs tracked at Beach Road live off the floor with Siegfried (you can also right click and save as, and make sure to turn off the main player). Bookings based on first come, first served, and will only be booked for November and December, so contact menow!!
It’s hard to believe, but it’s now been 3 years since we built the mastering room here at Beach Road. It’s been somewhat of an ongoing project, and improvements/new custom builds have been happening steadily over that time. To celebrate our anniversary, for the remainder of September and the month of October, we’ll be offering substantial discount rates on mastering, as a way of saying thanks to all the bands and clients we’ve had in the past 3 years! Please contact the studio for more details!
The summer of 2011 went by quick at Beach Road!! After finishing records for Kittie and Moondog Uproar, I worked on several singles, mixes and masters for The Disenders, Jack Walker, The Daily Hate, Steve Steele, Craig Cardiff, Mac Graham and The Stratford Shakespeare Festival! In early August, I began the newest release for the band Woods of Ypres – their first for famed UK metal label Earache Records. The record is nearing completion, with only a few more mix touchups to go, and a release date set for early 2012. The new Kittie album “I’ve Failed You” is in stores and online now, please go check it out! Commence the autumn of 2011!!
Siegfried Meier is now featured on the Noble & Cooley website!! N&C have been making drums since 1854, and were one of the primary manufacturers of marching drums for the Union Army during the Civil War. Still owned and operated by direct descendants of James Cooley, the Noble & Cooley Company of today is run from the same rustic location in Granville, Massachusetts!! Check out Siegfried’s artist page here!!
Siegfried is in the studio with Kittie working on their new full length for E1 Music/KOCH! The band is booked in for 3 solid weeks to track one of the rawest, coolest, most interesting sounding records of their career! Look for pics, footage and tracks soon!
Been a crazy winter/early spring! Finished records with Breaching Vista and Benefit of a Doubt for Bright Side Records (released May 2011), did a wicked metal EP with The Wedding Party, started a cool folk/rock EP with Bryce Jardine of Dog Tooth Violet and mixed the brand new Chris Hart record! Also worked on some quick live off the floor EP’s with Toronto’s Flatland and London’s Orbit. Local metal band Anatomist also came in to do a super raw, vintage sounding EP and I finished some mixes for Toronto band 1951. Kitchener/Waterloo based bands Don’t Doubt Courage and Credit Valley were in doing some tracks, and I also produced a 3 song EP with an incredibly talented pop artist named Scotty James – check out the player on the website to hear samples of these artists’ songs. The new mastering room has also been quite busy with several singles/EP’s coming in every week. Stay tuned for more updates soon!!
Oooook, so it’s been a few weeks since our journey home from New Jersey, and our new friends are finally back and enjoying their final resting place. The studio welcomes a couple of older desks from yesteryear. Our main goal was to bring home an Amek/TAC Magnum console from New Jersey. The Magnum was TAC’s flagship board from wayyyy back in 1990, and although not a Neve or an SSL, was an excellent sounding board with many features. The console began its life as a custom order and hand build in the UK, destined for a facility in Las Vegas. While in service there for several years it was eventually sold off to a fledgling rapper who kept it in his apartment, where it was eventually too much of a burden to keep on his meagre CVS Pharmacy earnings. The console was then sold to a fine man in New Jersey, where it was subsequently shipped and prepared for a new music studio opening in that area. When the studio eventually didn’t happen, the poor homeless console was then again put back on the market where it caught my attention. After much research and deliberation, the rare TAC was snatched up and driven back to Beach Road over the course of a weekend. A friend of the console’s, a 1975 Soundcraft Series Two, was apparently destined for the New Jersey landfill site. At the last second, and with clearly no thought in mind, the mid-size 12 channel frame british desk was scooped up from its temporary home in the dumpster and tucked in the last possible corner left in the cube van – it was clearly love at first sight. The thought of the creators and builders of this console seeing it in the trash was too much for me, and I couldn’t bear to see this wonderful piece of electronic wizardry go to waste.
We are in the midst of installing and restoring both consoles as we speak. The TAC will undergo some basic parts installation and cosmetic repairs to bring it back to original condition before installing some special Siegfried modifications. It features a 26 fader frame with the possibility of 68 inputs on mix, and quite a terrific musical eq. The Series Two needs a bit more loving, but is destined to turn into a 12 channel guitar tracking console when fully refurbished and restored. Click here to check out some of the install pics of the Magnum, and here to check out the Series Two!!
For the months of October, November and December, we’ve got a special demo deal on. $500 gets you a live off the floor recording of up to 3 songs at Beach Road Studios, Produced, Engineered and Mixed by Siegfried Meier and a one nights stay at the Beach Road Band House! Of course, it’ll require your band to actually be able to play together…isn’t that a strange concept? 🙂 Click here to check out a small sample of 5 different songs tracked at Beach Road live off the floor with Siegfried (you can also right click and save as, and make sure to turn off the main player). Bookings based on first come, first served, so contact me now!!
Been a busy late summer! The new Metro4 record is nearly done, and set for release this fall. The album is a collection of finely crafted brit rock/pop songs from a group of extremely talented musicians and songwriters. Nashville metal act Solvi and I teamed up to record a single for the upcoming Bright Side Records compilation. I traveled down to Nashville to track the song at, oddly enough, Beech Creek Studios, which is a beautiful facility on the outskirts of the city. Two Step Monday was in tracking drums for their forthcoming full length, choosing the Beach Road room to capture some massive sounds with the in house custom SJC kit. Ill Eagle was also finally back to track a song for the upcoming Bright Side comp, one of the best songs I’ve heard from these unique fine boys. Chasing Mercury has finally completed their new 4 song EP that’s been in progress throughout 2010. The guys are busy writing for what will be their 2nd full length record and recently opened up for Pennywise!
Check back soon for new stuff happening this fall!!
For all the broke ass bands out here. Remember, the cost of making a record has very much to do with the facility and how much it costs to operate it. If you’re looking for a wicked recording and are on a tight budget, the Beach Road Mobile Rig will get you exactly that. It ain’t all about gear, it’s about the guy that’s running it. You can give a monkey a tool box…but that doesent mean the little bastard is gonna fix yer car. Before you get your buddy in his basement with torrents of Waves plugs and cracked versions of Logic to do your record, why not hire someone that’s done this a few times before and knows how to do it right…contact Siegfried now!!
In light of the new mastering room install, the new rates will begin at just $8 per mastered minute of music! Not everyone needs discs mailed to them, and for many projects that will only see life online, it makes sense to save that extra cash! The mastering chain is STILL the same sweet outboard analog gear (with more to be installed shortly!) coupled with the finest digital software, so there’s no need to worry about the quality. Contact Siegfried at Beach Road Mastering now!! (519) 440-0904
Lots of things happening this summer! The new Breaching Vista record is nearly finished, and due for release in Sept. The long awaited new sectorseven full length is available on iTunes now, and physical copies will be in stores in Sept. Also, the new Searching For Satellites EP is out now as a free download, along with the new Escapes EP that was mixed at Beach Road. Benefit of a Doubt was back in recording their brand new EP, and singles by Life Like Rockets, Surrounded by Water, Hello Apollo and Chasing Mercury will be featured on the new Bright Side Records compilation. Currently working on the new Metro4 full length, which is due for release in the fall! More news soon including a crazy vintage gear install at Beach Road!!
Beach Road Studios has installed 4 custom Mackie headphone monitoring rigs, allowing for 8 channels of personal, custom monitoring per musician. Vintage Line 6 POD Pro’s and Bass Pod Pro units allow for quiet bed tracking, while still getting the sound of an amp (kind of haha, come on, let’s be serious) in your headphones, and not bleeding into drum and room mics!!
Check out a pic here!
Answering the call for inexpensive indie mix rates, I’ll now be mixing songs starting at $200 a song!!! With more and more bands and artists recording themselves, having a solid mix and master with some nice and tasty vintage analog gear is more crucial than ever! Contact me now regarding your project!
Been a busy Winter/early Spring!!! Look for new records from sectorseven, To Tell, Armour, Thine Eyes Bleed and Breaching Vista soon!!
Hey everyone! I just wanted to inform you that I’ve put together a very small, but effective, mobile recording system to take with me on trips. This means that bands no longer have to make the trek all the way out to Beach Road Studios (not that that’s a bad thing!) to make great sounding records with me. This, of course, can and will keep costs lower than they have been traditionally for making a record. The rig consists of (insert nerd talk here) a custom pair of Neve 1290 mic preamps, 8 x M-Audio Profire 2626 preamps, 8 x Presonus Digimax LT preamps and a custom SSL Bus Compressor running Pro Tools M-Powered 8.0 with the Music Production Toolkit on a 2Ghz Intel Dual Mac Mini. So, to all those bands that are still recording in their basements and garage spaces, have me come in and give you a hand making that record sound the absolute best it can be!! Contact me for more info!
Holy smokes has it been a crazy start to the year! New band Moondog Uproar was in and we finished one of the most exciting and sassy records of our time – look for it to be available soon. Colombian/London band Kaffe was also in recording a new record with me. The guys are headed back to Colombia for a major tour and I wish them all the best of luck! Guelph band Life Like Rockets was in recording a 5 song EP with me, which should be out within the next few weeks – very rad band with great hooky songs! Everyone’s favourite party band The Salads were back to begin work on their exciting new full length. 2 songs have been completed so far, with more on the way. Fresh back from their several year hiatus, London band Acacia were in recording 7 tracks for their upcoming EP that will be released on vinyl. The record was done live off the floor in the massive live room here, and has a super thick raw feel – very cool! Burlington band Dearest – now called The Vice – were in to finalize and redo some tracks for their upcoming EP. They have a new singer and a very fresh new sound, which I’m sure you will all dig very much! Riverside was also at the studio in January to record their 90’s cover version of Natalie Imbruglia’s Torn – what a fantastic song that has only now become even more fantastic! Tara Mcleod, crazy guitar shredder from Kittie, was in to record some guitar tracks for the upcoming Team Cybergeist project, a compilation of some very cool musicians and artists – no word on when it will be out, but it will be very cool! Lastly, I tracked and produced the vocals for Nick Harris’ guest appearance on the brand new Victory released Farewell To Freeway album. The record is out now, so check it out! The studio is currently undergoing some minor renovations to the tracking room, and it looks like the spring/summer season will be a busy one as usual!! Check back soon for more updates.
Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you know of a few things that have been going on around the studio the past few months. Tyler Schwende was in getting his new record mixed which is a fantastic collection of songs, as well as a cool band called Metro4 from London that have some killer songs. We also finished the new Riverside record and the album will be out in January on Bullion Records, very proud of this one. Another record I started earlier in the year from a band called Guilty is also now done and we’re just waiting on final mastered copies before that gets released. The band has now changed their name to The Light Division, and we have several labels interested in the new record. Another cool new band called Ill Eagle from London was in doing work on their new EP. These guys are pretty damn rad, and have a really unique sound. Also, the band To Telland I have finished off an EP that sounds super fresh and catchy, along with a brand new Christmas track that is out now for you to check out! I also produced a song with The Disenders called Fall that is hitting radio as we speak – great band with a very cool vibe and sound. I’m currently working on the brand newsectorseven record – yes, those dirt bike punk rockers that used to be signed with Sonic Unyon. They’ve come up with a brand new album of tear your face off punk songs, not like anything anyone on this continent is doing. I’ve made up a list of other services that I can provide to bands working on the cheap (during these tough economic times) – check it outhere. Also, I’m offering some new online mastering rates for bands and artists that don’t need actual discs or want to spend $$$ on shipping – the rate for that is $10 per mastered minute of music, and you can easily take the files and burn them to disc! That’s it for now. Looking forward to a little downtime during the holidays, and things will be picking right back up after the new year. Check back soon and take care all!
Many artists don’t fully understand the need for mastering their final mix. This is why I’m offering a free test master of a song to show you exactly what mastering can do for your record. Even music that is only destined to be played back over Myspace or other online websites can benefit from a good mastering using some of the finest analog hardware. But if you intend on releasing an actual disc or vinyl, it becomes even more crucial. Emailsiegfried@siegfriedmeier.com for more details and to get your free test master now.
Ahead of schedule, the new mastering room at Beach Road Studios is now open! Featuring some excellent analog mastering gear as well as a few custom made pieces, the new room is sure to deliver some smokin’ records! Contact the studio now email@example.com for rates and to book your next mastering session!
We’re pleased to announce the upcoming completion of the brand new Beach Road Studios Mastering Room. A mostly analog equipped facility (with some digital toys thrown in for good measure), the new room will feature a Focusrite Red EQ, Manley Vari-Mu limiter, and KRK and Adam speakers. Mastering is a crucial final step in the making of a record, and we’re thrilled to offer this service at an extremely affordable rate without sacrificing the quality only great analog outboard gear can provide. We expect the room to officially go online towards the end of August 2008. Contactsiegfried@siegfriedmeier.com for rates and more info!!
Boy oh boy it’s been a busy summer! Many new records coming out in the next several months. First off, the new Radio Adelaide record is done and shall be released shortly. The songs are tight, melodic and brilliantly crafted, and are sure to keep people dancing. Riverside are currently in working on their follow-up masterpiece to Goodbye Broadway. The new record is quite different from anything the band has ever done, and is quite stripped down and intimate, featuring the best songs they’ve ever written. Hamilton band Guilty is still continuing work on their forthcoming EP. Look for a release sometime in the Fall. The brand new Benefit of a Doubt EP is complete as well, and is one of the coolest EP’s released this year. The guys are also some of the raddest people I’ve worked with, so it helps. Additionally, I’ve also completed the mix for the new record by London folk/rock artist Chris Hart. Chris is no stranger to the music industry, and the new songs are by far some of the strongest tracks he’s ever written. Finally, the new Beach Road SJC Custom drum kit has finally arrived, and it’s looking quite sexy!

That’s all for now. Check back soon for more info and upcoming bands!! Take care all.
Hey everyone. Just letting you know who’s hanging out at the studio in the next while, who’s been here in the spring already, and a few other cool things that are new at Beach Road. First off, The Dunes and I have finally finished work on their new record that is due out sometime this summer/fall. The record turned out to be one of the most fulfilling projects I’ve ever had the pleasure of working on, and the songs are second to none. For more info on that, please go towww.myspace.com/thedunesrock. Second, Windsor band Radio Adelaide (previously Dressed In Sunday’s Best) were in and we knocked out a full length in a matter of a few weeks. The songs are super strong and furious, and with some good luck, new fans and some serious touring should put these guys at the forefront of the music scene. For more info, check outwww.myspace.com/radioadelaiderocks. Thirdly, Hamilton band Guilty has begun work on their forthcoming 7 song EP. Things are still in progress for this excellent piece of work from one of the coolest bands and nicest guys I’ve met, so check back here soon and take a gander at www.myspace.com/guilty to find out more. Fourthly (can I say that?), Ottawa band Benefit of a Doubt will be in shortly to work on their brand new 3 song EP. Check outwww.myspace.com/benefitofadoubtrock. Fifthly (now it’s just getting ridiculous), I’m nearly done mixing the brand new Chris Hart record. This album features some of, what I think, are the best songs I’ve heard in long time. Check back soon for more info on that. Spanish Fusion/Rock band Kaffe was also in having their EP mixed – some very cool tracks that are unlike anything that’s ever come out of Beach Road. Check outwww.myspace.com/kafferock for more info. Riverside is back in the summer to work on a followup to Goodbye Hollywood that will also be a very cool record. Equipment wise, the studio has now acquired 8 new custom Neve 1290 mic preamps, a number of new guitar pedals, a Gretsch hollowbody electric and an Orange 4×12 cab. There will also be 8 new custom API 312’s coming as well as several other new additions throughout the year. That’s about it for now. Check back soon and take care everyone!
Hey everyone. Just wanted to let you all know what’s new and happening around the studio. Couple of bands have been in doing some work that I thought you’d like to know about. First, Niagara Falls area band Policies and Procedures were in doing 2 new songs for a potential upcoming full length. If you’re a fan of old school Soul Asylum and Counting Crows, you’ll love this band. Check outwww.myspace.com/policiesandprocedures. Also, Toronto band Sadie May Crash was in doing some new demos. These guys are unlike anything you’ve ever heard – super tight musicians, great songs and incredible lead vocals. Check outwww.myspace.com/sadiemaycrash. Last up, Toronto band The Dunes are currently in working on their next full length album. The songs are super strong with lots of catchy hooks, and we’re talking music that has longevity. Check outwww.myspace.com/thedunes for more info soon. That’s all for now. Check back again soon!
It’s finally here – a vintage Studer A827 2″ 24 track analog machine that resided in a very famous studio in Los Angeles now calls Beach Road home. The A827 was the last machine Studer created before all digital hell broke loose, and represents the finest and absolute best analog recording can provide – the sound of 2″ tape is unmatched no matter what emulators and plugins you choose to trick yourself into thinking is analog. Also new to the studio is a Vox AC30 amplifier and an SVT Classic bass head – both staples in rock history!! Check back soon for brand new updates on the studio!
Siegfried and Beach Road Studios announces the signing of an endorsement deal with American custom drum company SJC Drums. SJC is home to some of the greatest acts around such as Say Anything, Panic at the Disco!, The Ataris, Cartel, The Junior Varsity, The Academy Is…, Gym Class Heroes, Rise Against and many, many more. One of the coolest bands to come out in a long time with some great songs, new band Breaching Vista has come in to work on 4 new songs with me. With the focus being strong songs and hooks, this EP is sure to strike a chord with lots of everyday listeners – not just the “scene” kids. Check outwww.myspace.com/breachingvista for more info and songs soon!!
The brand new S2G EP is finally done and will be available soon. A complete rebirth of the band and the anti-Pro Tools EP of the decade, this is some of the rawest and most personal music of the band yet. Be sure to check it out at www.myspace.com/secondstogo.
Hey cats! Lots of cool new things happening at Beach Road this fall. Ryan Mills (of Kover and Blue Skies at War fame) was in working on a couple of new songs, one being a cover for an upcoming tribute album (to be announced). Seconds To Go is back to begin work on their brand new forthcoming full length. The new album promises to be one of the freshest and most interesting records ever, as the guys move forward into the next chapter in their career. London’s own The Synaesthetic will be back to work on a brand new EP that is sure to keep you on your toes. The boys are hard at work going through the motions to start touring heavily and take things to the next level. Also, Toronto band The Dunes will be in to work with Siegfried on some new demos for their new record.
The new Chasing Mercury record titled Midnight At The Ball is finally out as well. The new album contains some of the most melodic and catchy songs from the guys, and is something I’m very proud of and pleased to have been a part of. The story of the album and Beach Road Studios are very closely tied together and I hope to document it sometime soon. For more info or to get a copy, head on over to www.myspace.com/chasingmercury.
Many more things to be confirmed shortly, so stay tuned!
Hey everyone. It’s been a very busy summer and there’s lots of new things happening at the studio. First off, the new Soap Opera Coma record is finally done and mastered, and should be in stores either by the fall or the spring of 2008. The record was nearly 8 months in the making, and is sure to blow everyone’s socks off (even on areas where you don’t normally put socks). Check outwww.myspace.com/thesoapoperacoma for more info. Chasing Mercury was also in for several months and completed one of the best albums ever made, in the entire world. I’m not even remotely kidding. No word on a release date yet, but check outwww.myspace.com/chasingmercury for info and some teasers of the new tracks. It was amazing to see the album that started in the construction of Beach Road Studios completed. Mastered by Troy Glessner (of MXPX, Anberlin, Underoath fame), this record is one of the must haves of 2007/2008. Last, but certainly not least, Paris Burning have finally completed their new as of yet untitled EP. The band has undergone many changes in the past several months, and the new EP may spawn an entire full length of biblical proportions. Check outwww.myspace.com/parisburningrock for more info. The fall is looking super hot and sexy, so check back for updates shortly!! Peace out.
Everyone recognizes the changes that are being made in the music industry. Not every artist or band has the funds available to record at a full fledged facility, and instead choose to record themselves in their own spaces using many of the equipment choices available to them. While this is a great way to capture performances at your own pace, the final product usually suffers because the artist lacks the skill to mix properly. We’re now offering special rates for indie mix projects that bands record themselves, or are recorded at other facilities. Have Siegfried put the final polishing touches on your hard work, and end up with a professional sounding product that will demand attention. Emailsiegfried@siegfriedmeier.com for more info and/or a quote now!
